Yuliya Mikashkina, Billing Account Representative

At WCH, we are proud of our effective, efficient, hands-on approach to medical billing services — and particularly proud of our amazing employees! Customer service and satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us, which is why we continually invest in our staff members’ ongoing training and certification programs.

Yuliya Mikashkina, an account representative at WCH, embodies the professionalism and diligence we strive to deliver at WCH.

“As a billing account representative, my job is to make sure that my clients are correctly reimbursed for all services they provide,” Mikashkina says.

The process begins when a claim is created in the Patient Management Billing Operating System. Mikashkina verifies that the claim is accurate and complete. After the claim is sent to insurance, Mikashkina checks its status, determines whether the claim is paid and the check has posted, and, if the claim was denied, discovers the reason.

“I call the insurance, and if the claim was denied incorrectly, using insurance policies knowledge, I am able to override initial insurance decision. I also submit appeals when the case is denied incorrectly so that my clients are paid for the work they are doing,” Mikashkina says. “I work with the claim until the payment is made to make sure that the practice I work with receives the contracted allowed payment.”

Even as hard as she works, Mikashkina truly enjoys her job — especially because she learns something new every day. Insurance reimbursement policies are constantly changing, creating a challenging and engaging environment that requires consistent focus.

She also appreciates the friendly, helpful atmosphere at WCH.

“I like that I have clear instructions of what to do in each particular case. It is really great that all the associates are very friendly and helpful, and I can always ask for advice and will receive a prompt response,” Mikashkina says.

According to Mikashkina, the weekly educational meetings where employees exchange information and discuss professional issues make WCH a great place to learn and she feels well-supported by the management team as she strives for professional progress.

In her spare time, Mikashkina likes swimming and practicing yoga to keep her body fit and her mind calm. She also finds cross-stich embroidery very relaxing, especially after a long day spent advocating for her accounts.
